AMANDA CAPLES - Director, Science & Technology Programs
Department of Innovation, Industry and Regional Development.

   

She is responsible for the Victorian Government’s Science, Technology and Innovation Initiative including the Biotechnology Strategic Development Plan; Healthy Futures: The Victorian Life Sciences Statement; and international science linkages.

In this role, Amanda has been involved in stem cell legislative reform and in the establishment of major program initiatives such as the Victorian Neurotrauma Initiative, the Victorian Cancer Agency and the Victoria-Israel Science and Technology Fund.

Prior to this Amanda has had over 15 years experience in the commercialisation of medical research and pharmaceutical product development with local and international firms. She has secured more than $200M of technology deals with global players, successfully registered new pharmaceutical products in Australia and New Zealand and has been involved in many joint ventures and start-up companies.
Amanda holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and PhD from the University of Melbourne. She is a Director of the Victorian Neurotrauma Initiative Pty Ltd and a member of the Ivanhoe Grammar School Board of Governors.
